Russia and Mongolia “have reached a stage of specific projects” |

The Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for trade, economic and investment cooperation with Mongolia, Aleksey Gordeev declared in Irkutsk, following the results of the meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia Sanzhaagiyn Bayar, that cross-frontier collaboration is of primary importance for trade and economic relations between Russia and Mongolia.
According to him, “the wide range of questions discussed during the meeting, signs that both countries have reached a stage of specific projects.” Furthermore, the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the chairman of the Joint-Stock Company “Russian Railways” (JSC RZD) Vladimir Yakunin have agreed on the Ulan-Bator Railway’s 50% of shares transfer to the Russian company. In return, the Head of the State Corporation “Rosatom” Sergey Kirienko said that Russia and Mongolia plan to establish a joint venture on uranum deposit development in Mongolia. This decision was taken at the meeting with Sanzhaagiyn Bayar. In prospect, according to Kirienko, small nuclear power plants, as well as a uranium enrichment plant can be built in Mongolia. |
