Dmitry Medvedev: Chinese Investments Should Be Attracted

The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, paying a visit to Khabarovsk, said that “China possesses not only the market receptive for our industry, but also considerable financial resources that can be invested in our economy. And we should be engaged in identification of priorities of cooperation with it.”

“I think that it is wise to analyze China’s experience in the trade conversion into settle in national currencies,” Medvedev continued. “This question has been worked at; we have discussed it with China’s government. And we should act in this way.”

Moreover, he is persuaded that “the tasks of the Far East and Transbaikalia growth must be coordinated at the working level with programs of Northeast of China development.”

“Our Chinese partners have positively reacted on this proposal, I have personally discussed this question with PRC President Hu Jintao,” said the Head of State. “A special draft program of cooperation has been prepared, special counter offers, presently coordinated by experts, have been advanced. This work must be continued.”

“At the same time it is necessary to attract the Chinese investments in construction of oil processing objects, petrochemistry, coal mining, cargo transshipment in the Far Eastern ports, creation of generating supplies on the territory of Transbaikalia and the Far East. We have a wide range of possibilities concerning TPP in Nakhodka, Vladivostok, Ussuriisk, in a number of other places.”
