The SCO and BRIC Summits to Be Held in Yekaterinburg on June 15-16

The Press Service of the President of Russia has issued an announcement that on June 1516, 2009 in Yekaterinburg, under the chairmanship of the President of Russia, a regular meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states and the summit of Brazil, Russia, India, and China will be held.

Leaders of the SCO member (Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) and observer (India, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan) states will discuss the SCO activity during Russias chairmanship in 20082009, will define priorities and consider actual questions of this organizations further work.

The BRIC summit where the leaders of Russia, Brazil, Russia, India, and China will take part will focus on the cooperation for the purpose of struggle with consequences of the global financial and economic crisis and other questions of cooperation in this promising format.

A number of meetings of the RF President Dmitry Medvedev with the Heads of foreign member states of the summits are scheduled in Yekaterinburg.
