Dmitry Medvedev: Russia will Strengthen Mechanisms of Collaboration within CIS, SCO and BRIC

The President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev spoke at the general political discussion within the framework of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Russia together with its partners in the space of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, within the BRIC forum will strengthen mechanisms of regional collaboration, mechanisms permitting to jointly react to common threats, reduce the crisis consequences for our citizens and enhance stability of national economies, said the Head of the Russian State.

Dmitry Medvedev called the higher significance of regional structures a distinguishing characteristic of our time. Their activity really grows on all the continents, and such a tendency perfectly corresponds to principles of the United Nations organization, he said.

During his speech the President of Russia took up subjects such as disarmament, energy security, regional conflicts, and counteraction to attempts to subject to revision results of the Second World War enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations Organization.
